Ingredients

  • 1/2 stick butter
  • 1 c packed light brown sugar
  • 1 1/2 About 1 1/2 lbs French bread, sliced 1 1/2” thick
  • 8 large eggs, lightly beaten
  • 1 c milk
  • 1 T vanilla
  • 1 t cinnamon
  • 1/4 t ground ginger
  • 3/4 c chopped pecans
  • Confectioners’ sugar
  • Maple syrup

Preparation

Step 1

• Combine butter and sugar in baking dish.
• Arrange bread in dish. Whisk eggs, milk,vanilla and spices. Pour over bread, letting soak in. Top with nuts.
• Cover and refrigerate 3 – 12 hours.
• Preheat oven to 350. Set out 20 minutes prior to baking to take chill off. Bake 30 to 45 minutes, until browned and set.
• Cool slightly. Sift sugar on top. Serve with maple syrup.
