Ingredients

  • 2 Lbs 80% Lean Ground Beef
  • 1 Medium White Onion, diced
  • 1 Can Tomato Sauce
  • 1 Can Tomato Paste
  • 1 Can Stewed Tomatoes
  • 4-5 Finely diced Garlic
  • 1 Large Can Mushrooms (stems and pieces)
  • 1 Tbsp Ground Oregano
  • 1 1/2 Tbsp Chili Powder
  • Garlic Salt
  • Salt
  • Pepper

Step 1

1. Cook ground beef with onions and garlic, salt and Pepper in a large cast iron skillet. The Skillet should be large enough to hold the remaining ingredients. You could also use a cast iron Dutch oven with lid that would work on the stove. Cook completely but not overdone. med-hi heat. Drain excess fat is your option and depends on how much there is.

2. Add Mushrooms and allow to cook shortly. Do not drain mushroom water

3. Add tomato sauce and Diced tomatoes. Mix thoroughly with meat.

4. Stir in tomato paste and mix well then add the spices.

5. As the sauce begins to heat up reduce to a simmer. Keeping stirred so not to scorch or burn. Generally do not need to add water.

6. As the sauce simmers you can check flavor and add additional seasoning to taste.

Spaghetti is your choice. Both from a quality and type. You can also add the sauce to the cooked Spaghetti and mix or keep the sauce separate and add on top.
