sugar cookie

Ingredients

• 2 c. white sugar
• 1 c. Crisco shortening
• 2 eggs
• 1 tsp. vanilla
• 1 tsp. baking soda dissolved in 1 1/2 c. buttermilk
• 4 c. all purpose flour
• 1 tsp. salt
• 2 tsp. baking powder
• 1 tsp. ground nutmeg

Preparation

Step 1

Preheat oven to 350°. Cream together sugar, Crisco and eggs. Add vanilla and buttermilk.
Add dry ingredients. Drop by spoonful's onto greased cookie sheet. Sprinkle with sugar.
Bake until edges turn slightly brown and middle is set (about 10 min.).
