Ingredients
- 1 1/2 pounds stew beef in 1/2" cubes
- 1 can tomato paste - (6 oz)
- 1 tablespoon brown sugar
- 1 tablespoon red wine vinegar (or cider)
- 1/2 cup red wine (or use apple juice)
- 1/2 teaspoon cumin
- 4 small garlic cloves
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 teaspoon freshly-ground black pepper
- 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon or more to taste
- 1 bay leaf
- 2 tablespoons raisins
- (other dried fruit could be substituted)
- 2 whole cloves

Mix all ingredients in the Slow cooker. Cover and cook on LOW 7 to 9 hours.
