Onion Dinner Rolls

Ingredients

  • 2 tsp olive oil
  • 1 large onion, chopped
  • 3 cups flour
  • 1 tbsp sugar
  • 1 pkg active dry yeast
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 2/3 cup milk
  • 1 tsp butter
  • 1 egg white, lightly beaten
  • 1 tsp water

Step 1

Spray large baking sheet with nonstick spray.

Heat oil over medium heat. Add onion. Cook until tender. Combine 3/4 cup flour, sugar, yeast and salt.

In small pan over medium heat, bring milk and butter to a simmer.

Using a mixer set on medium, beat milk mixture into flour mixture until combined. On high, beat in 1/4 cup flour. Stir in onion and remaining flour until a soft dough forms.

On floured surface, knead dough 8 minutes. Let rest 10 minutes. Divide dough into 12 pcs. Roll each into rope, tie into loose knot. Place rolls on sheet. Cover with damp cloth. Let rise 50 minutes.

Preheat oven to 350*.

Combine egg white and water. Brush rolls with glaze.

Bake 20 minutes.
