Heloise: Grab a metal pan and some ice! Put the ice in the pan and set this on top of the gum to harden it. When frozen and hard, using a dull knife, scrape off as much as possible. For the remaining gum that can't be removed, dab the stain with a little dry-cleaning solvent on a clean cloth.

This should fix your sticky situation!
