Simply Slow Cooked Chicken Soup

Ingredients

  • 2 2 2 small onions, chopped
  • 2 2 2 stalks celery, diced
  • 2 2 2 carrots, sliced
  • 1 1 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 1/4 1/4
  • teaspoon teaspoon pepper
  • 1/2 1/2 1/2
  • teaspoon teaspoon basil
  • 1/4 1/4 1/4
  • teaspoon teaspoon thyme
  • 1/4 1/4 1/4
  • teaspoon teaspoon sage
  • 2 2 2 tablespoons dry parsley flakes
  • 1 1 package 1 (10-ounce) package frozen peas
  • 3 3 3 pounds whole broiler/fryer chicken
  • 2 1/2 2 1/2 2 1/2
  • cups cups water
  • 1/3 1/3 1/3
  • cup cup raw converted rice

Preparation

Step 1

Place all ingredients in slow cooker except rice in order listed. Cover and cook on low 8 to 10 hours (high 4 to 6 hours). One hour before serving, remove chicken and cool slightly. Remove meat from bones and return to slow cooker. Add rice. Cover and cook the additional hour on high.
