Simple Buttercream

Ingredients

  • 8 oz butter, softened
  • 4 oz shortening
  • 1 lb confectioner's sugar
  • 1.25 oz egg whites
  • 1/2 tsp lemon juice
  • 3/4 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 oz water

Preparation

Step 1

1. Using the paddle attachment, mix together the butter, shortening and sugar until well blended.
2. Add the egg whites, lemon juice and vanilla. Blend at medium speed, then at high speed until light and fluffy.
3. For softer buttercream, blend in 1 oz of water.
