Cheese Lasagna

Ingredients

  • 1 small onion, finely chopped
  • 5 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 14 1/2 ounce can diced tomatoes, undrained
  • 1 15 ounce can tomato sauce
  • 1/4 tsp. crushed red pepper
  • 12 dried lasagna noodles
  • 1 15 ounce container whole milk ricotta cheese.
  • 1 egg
  • 1/2 cup grated parmiganio cheese
  • 1/3 cup milk
  • 1/4 cup coarsely chopped parsley
  • 1/4 cup coarsely chopped basil
  • 1 tbsp. chopped fresh oregano
  • 1 cup mozzarella cheese

Preparation

Step 1

1. Saute onion for 5 minutes, add garlic. Stir in undrained tomatoes, tomato sauce, salt, and crushed red pepper. Bring to a boil. Simmer covered for 30 minutes. Then, uncover and simmer another 15 minutes.
2. For filling combine the;ricoota,parmigano,egg,milk,parsley,basil,oregano,and salt.
3. Drizzle bottom of dish with oil, spread a layer of noodles,then filling,then sauce. Repeat layers. Sprinkle mozzarella cheese on top.
4. Cover with a piece of parchment paper brushed with olive oil, then tightly with foil.
5. Bake at 375 for 30 minutes. Then uncover and bake 15 minutes more.
6. Allow to rest for 15 minutes before serving to allow neat slices.
