Ingredients
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1/4 cup sugar
- 1 tablespoon Rumford Baking Powder
- 1/2 teaspoon ground nutmeg
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 2 eggs, slightly beaten
- 1 cup milk
- 2 quarts vegetable oil
- 4 large apples, peeled, cored and sliced into 1/2-inch rings
- 1/2 powdered sugar

Makes about 12 fritters
Mix together flour, sugar, Rumford Baking Powder, nutmeg and salt. In a separate bowl, beat together eggs and milk. Stir milk mixture into flour mixture, mixing just until smooth.
Heat oil to 375 degrees F in deep fryer or cast iron skillet or Dutch oven. Dip apple slices into batter and fry, a few a time, turning once until golden brown. Be careful not to crowd the fritters while cooking. Drain cooked fritters on paper towels. Dust with powdered sugar.
