LOVE POTION (Cocktail)
By EricS52
You may find “I Love You” teddy bears just a tad nauseating. You might roll your eyes when your cubicle mate receives a dump truck’s worth of roses. But unless you have a stone-cold heart, you’re going to want something sweet on Valentine’s Day. Our plan: a pretty orangey-pink cocktail. This super-simple blood orange syrup recipe is a great way to get started. Just add liquor and a healthy dose of bubbly and you’re fully set to celebrate (or completely ignore) the day in question.

Preparation
Step 1
Directions
1. Make the syrup: In a medium saucepan, bring the blood orange juice to a boil. Simmer the juice until it has reduced to about 1 cup, 5 to 6 minutes.
2. Add the sugar and return the mixture to a boil, stirring gently to dissolve the sugar. When the sugar is fully dissolved, remove the saucepan from the heat. Stir in the mint. Cool to room temperature.
3. Make the cocktail: In a cocktail shaker filled with ice, shake the gin with the syrup. Strain into a glass and finish with a healthy splash of prosecco. Store leftover syrup in the refrigerator for up to two weeks.
