Beef and Bean Tostadas

Ingredients

  • 1/3 c taco sauce
  • 2 tsp ground cumin
  • 1 tsp garlic salt
  • 1/4 tsp ground black pepper
  • 1 lb ground chuck
  • 1/2 c chopped onion
  • 1 (15 oz) can refried beans
  • 1 (14 oz) package tostadas
  • 1 (8 oz) pkg shredded Colby-Jack cheese
  • 1 head romaine lettuce, shredded
  • Toppings: sour cream, prepared pico de gallo

Preparation

Step 1

Combine taco sauce, cumin, garlic salt, and pepper in a small bowl; set aside.

In a large skillet, cook ground beef and onion over medium heat until beef is browned and crumbly; drain well.

Add taco sauce mixture; cook, stirring frequently, for 10 minutes or until mixture is very thick.

Heat refried beans according to can directions. Spread beans over tostadas.

Top with meat mixture, cheese, lettuce and desired toppings.

Serve immediately.

(We had "Skillet Mexican Corn" with this and it was a good combination.)
