Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 packages of seedless raisons cut in 1/2
  • 1 C whiskey
  • 1 C soft butter or margarine
  • 2 1/4 C granulated sugar
  • 1 tsp grated nutmeg
  • 6 well beaten eggs
  • 4 1/2 C sifted flour
  • 3 1/2 C coarsely chopped pecans
  • 2 tsp baking powder
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 C confectioners' sugar

Step 1

Soak raisons in whiskey overnight. Cream butter and sugar together. Add nutmeg and eggs. Beat thoroughly. Mix 1 C of the flour with the nuts. Sift together remaining flour, baking powder and salt. Add dry ingredients to creamed mixture. Fold in nuts and then raisons. Mix lightly and pour into well greased and floured 10 inch tube pan. Bake in slow oven (325) for 1 1/4 hours or until top is firm and side shrink away from the pan. Do not over bake. Let cool in pan for 5 min. Turn out and cool on cake rack. Sprinkle on confectioners' sugar.
