Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup butter, softened
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 2 eggs
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tsp. baking powder
  • 1 tsp. baking soda
  • 1 carton (8 oz.) sour cream
  • 1 tsp. vanilla extract
  • 1 package (6 oz.) semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • 1/4 cup dark brown sugar

Step 1

Preheat oven to 350.

Cream butter. Gradually add 1 cup sugar, beating at medium speed with electric mixer until light and fluffy. Add eggs, one at a time, beating after each addition.

Combine flour, baking powder and baking soda.

Add one-third of dry ingredients to creamed mixture, stirring with a spoon, until blended. Add half of sour cream, stirring until blended.

Repeat procedure, ending with flour mixture.

Stir in vanilla.

In separate bowl, combine chocolate chips and brown sugar. Mix well and set mixture aside.

Spoon half of batter into a well-greased and floured 10-inch tube pan. Sprinkle with half of chocolate chip mixture.

Spoon remaining batter into pan and top with remaining chocolate chip mixture.

Bake at 350 for 50 minutes.

Let cool in the pan on wire rack for 10 minutes.

Flip cake onto a plate, then flip over (right side up) on another plate.
