Ingredients

  • 4 egg whites
  • 1 c sugar
  • 1 tsp cream of tartar
  • 2 c. shortening or butter
  • 1 tsp. vanilla
  • 1 tsp. almond extract
  • 1 c.+ powdered sugar

Preparation

Step 1

Heat 4 egg whites and 1 c. sugar over med. heat, stirring until sugar dissolves.
Pour mixture into a bowl and add cream of tartar.
Beat until cool, and peaks form.
Add butter and continue beating.
Add vanilla and almond extracts while beating.
Add a cup or more if necessary of powdered sugar and beat 5 minutes.
