Ingredients

    c sugar

  • 1 3/4

    c flour

  • 3/4

    c cocoa

  • 1 1/2

    tsp baking powder

  • 1 1/2

    tsp baking soda

  • 1

    tsp salt

  • 2

    eggs

  • 1

    c milk

  • 1/2

    c vegetable oil

  • 2

    tsp vanilla extract

  • 1

    c boiling water

  • Frosting:

  • 1

    sq unsweetened chocolate

  • 1

    stick butter

  • 1/2

    c whole milk

  • 2

    tsp vanilla

  • 2

    c sugar

Directions

Heat oven to 350 degrees. Grease and flour 2 9-inch round cake pans. Mix dry ingredients in a large bowl. Add eggs, milk, oil, and vanilla; beat on medium speed 2 mins. Stir in boiling water (batter is thin). Pour into pans. Bake 30-35 mins or until toothpick inserted comes out clean. Cool 10 min; remove from pans to wire racks. Cool completely. Frost. Frosting: Melt chocolate and butter on medium heat. Add milk, vanilla and sugar, mixing well with whisk. Stirring constantly, bring to a boil and boil for 1 min. Remove from heat and let cool 5 min, whisking occasionally. with mixer beat about 2 to 3 min or until thickened and can spread well.
