Ingredients
- 1 onion, chopped
- 1 lb okra, sliced
- 2 T bacon drippings
- 3 1/2 chopped tomatoes (4)
- 1 t salt
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 bay leaf
- 1 sprig thyme

Step 1
In a heavy skillet sauté onions and okra in hot drippings, stirring frequently until okra ceases to rope, about 30 minutes.
Add tomatoes, stir in remaining ingredients. Cover and simmer for 20-30 minutes.
