Ingredients
- 3/4 cup(s) Nestlé semi-sweet morsels
- 1 cup(s) butter or margarine, softened
- 1 1/3 cup(s) sugar
- 2 egg yolks
- 2 Tbsp nonfat milk
- 2 tsp vanilla extract
- 2 cup(s) all-purpose flour
- 2/3 cup(s) Cocoa
- 1/2 tsp salt
Preparation
Step 1
1. Beat butter, sugar, egg yolks, milk and vanilla in large bowl until well blended.
2. Stir together flour, cocoa and salt; gradually add to butter mixture, beat until well blended.
3. Refrigerate dough 1 to 2 hours or until firm enough to handle.
4. Prepare orange filling (recipe below).
5. Heat oven to 350°F. Lightly grease cookie sheet.
6. Shape dough into 1-inch balls; roll in additional sugar.
7. Place on prepared cookie sheet; press thumb in center of each cookie.
8. Bake 10-12 minutes or until set.
9. Spoon about 1/4 tsp filling into thumbprint of warm cookies. Gently press about 5 chocolate morsels into center of each cookie.
10. Carefully remove from cookie sheet to wire rack and cool completely.
11. Orange Filling: Combine 1 cup powdered sugar, 2 Tbls softened butter or margarine, 4 tsps milk, 1/2 tsp freshly grated orange peel and 1/2 tsp vanilla extract in small bowl; beat on high speed until smooth. Stir in red and yellow food coloring to get desired orange color.
