Strudel

Ingredients

  • 2 1/2 cups flour
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 cup shortening
  • 1 egg yolk
  • Milk added to egg to make 2/3 cup
  • 1 cup crushed flake cereal
  • 8 to 10 medium apples
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1 tsp cinnamon
  • 1 egg white

Preparation

Step 1

Mix first five ingredients to make crust. Divide crust in half, roll out and place the first half on jelly roll pan. Save the other half for top crust. Sprinkle crushed cereal over the bottom of crust. Dice apples. Mix apples and remaining 3 ingredients. Spread on crust. Put top crust on. Brush top with egg white. Bake at 400 F for 45 minutes.
