Ingredients
- 2 tbsp oil
- 1 1/2 cups celery
- 1 1/2 cups green or red bell pepper
- 1 cup onion, roughly chopped
- 1 pound dried lentils
- 6 cups water
- 2 cups tomato puree
- 4 ounces canned diced mild green chiles
- 1/4 cup vinegar
- 1 tbsp chili powder
- 1 tsp salt
- 1/2 tsp dried oregano
- 1 1/2 tsp ground cumin
- 1/4 cup steak sauce
- 1 tsp black pepper
Preparation
Step 1
Saute vegetables in oil; add lentils and water and cook for 30 minutes over medium heat until tender. Add tomato, chiles, vinegar and spices; simmer another 10 to 15 minutes. Serve with corn bread and/or cheese.
