Apple Streusal Muffins

  • Ingredients
  • 2 cups flour
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 3 tsp baking powder
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1/2 cup butter
  • 2 cups peeled, chopped apple
  • 1 egg beaten
  • 2/3 cup milk
  • 2 tbsp sugar
  • 1/2 tsp cinnamon
  • 1/2 tsp nutmeg



Step 1

Sift together flour 1/2 cup sugar, baking powder and salt, cinnamon, and nutmeg into mixing bowl. Cut in butter (or margarine) with a pastry blender until mixture is crumby. Reserve 1/2 cup mixture for the streusal topping. Stir apple into mixture in bowl. Add milk to egg and add to apple mixture; stir lightly until moist. Spoon into 12 greased muffin cups.

Blend the 1/2 cup reserve mixture, 2 tablespoons sugar. Sprinkle over batter in each muffin cup.

Bake in 425 degree oven 20 minutes or until golden brown. Serve warm. Makes 12 muffins
