Ingredients
- 1 package (2-layer size) chocolate cke mix (not pudding-in-the mix variety)
- 1/2 cup unsweetened cocoa
- 3 eggs
- 1-1/3 cups water
- 1 cup Miracle Whip
- Frosting
- 1 packate (8 oz) cream cheese, softened
- 2 tablespoons milk
- 1 teaspoon vanilla
- 5 cups sifted powdered sugar
- 1/2 cup unsweetened cocoa
Preparation
Step 1
For the cake:
1. STIR cake mix and 1/2 cup cocoa in a bowl. Add eggs, water and Miracle Whipp; beat on low speed 30 seconds, scraping bowl often. Beat on medium speed 2 minutes. Grease and flour 2 (9-inch) round cake pans. Line bottoms of pans with waxed paper. Pour batter into pans.
2. BAKE at 350 degrees F for 30 to 35 minutes or until toothpick inserted in center comes out clean. Cool 10 minutes; remove from pans and immediately peel off waxed paper. Cool completely on wire racks.
For the frosting:
3. BEAT cream cheese, milk and vanilla until well blended. Mix sugar and remaining 1/2 cup cocoa. Gradually add to cream cheese mixture, beating well after each addition. Fill and frost cake layers.
