Cherry Jam Hand Pies

  • 1 pkg. store bought pastry dough, chilled
  • 1/2 cup cherry jam or preserves
  • cream or milk
  • coarse or granulated sugar

Preparation

Step 1

Preheat oven to 375 degrees.

On a lightly floured surface, roll out dough slightly thinner than 1/8" thick, dusting work surface and dough as necessary to keep the dough from sticking. Cut dough into14 - 4" circles.

Spoon 1-2 teaspoons of the jam in the center of each circle. Lightly brush edges with a little water. Fold each circle in half, making sure to lightly press top of pastry to distribute the filling evenly. Seal edges together with tines of a fork, dipping the fork into flour as necessary. Pierce tops with tines of a fork. Place on prepared baking sheets. Refrigerate for 15 minutes.

Brush tops of pies with cream. If desired, sprinkle sugar over cream.

Bake pies in preheated oven for 2-535 minutes or until golden brown. Let cool on pans for 10 minutes. Transfer to a wire rack and let cool completely.
