Wild Plum Jam

Ingredients

  • 3 pints of plums
  • 4 cups of sugar

Step 1

Wash 3 pints of fully ripened plums, mixing in several partially ripened plums for added flavor. Place into a saucepan and crush with a potato masher. Bring the mashed plums to a boil; then simmer for 10 minutes. Remove from the heat and pour the hot plum sauce through a food mill. This will remove the skins and large seeds.

Place the hot juicy pulp into a saucepan, add 4 cups of granulated sugar and bring to a boil. Cook until the mixture is thick. You may wish to reduce the cooking time by adding 3 ounces of liquid pectin. Once cooking is complete, pour into hot, sterile jelly jars and seal.
