Chocolate Frosting

Ingredients

  • 4 ozs bittersweet chocolate, finely chopped
  • 1/2 c heavy cream
  • 3 tbs unsalted butter
  • 1 tbs light corn syrup
  • salt

Preparation

Step 1

Put chocolate in a heatproof medium bowl. In a small saucepan, heat the cream with butter, corn syrup and salt until hot but not boiling. Immediately pour the mixture over the chocolate. Let stand for 5 mins, then whisk until smoothl Let the frosting cool, whisking occasionally, until thick enough for dipping and glazing the cupcakes, about 30 mins. For a frosting firm enough to spread, let stand for 1 hour.

Topping: Crushed pretzels and caramel sauce;sweetened shredded coconut and mini nonpareil candies; crushed oreos; chopped mini slate dpeanuts, mini chocolate chips and mini marshmallows
