BREAD - Cinnamon Buns/Dinner Buns

Ingredients

  • YEAST MIXTURE
  • 2 tbsp yeast
  • 1/4 cup lukewarm water
  • 2 tsp sugar
  • LIQUID MIXTURE
  • 2 eggs (beaten)
  • 1/2 cup melted margarine
  • 1 tbsp vanilla
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 1 tbsp salt
  • 2 1/2 cups warm water
  • 8 cups flour (or more)

Preparation

Step 1

YEAST MIXTURE
1. Preheat oven to warm the stove.
2. Warm a large mixing bowl under hot water.
3. Dissolve 2 teaspoon sugar in warm water by swirling the bowl.
4. Add yeast by evenly distributing (sprinkling) in bowl.
5. Put lid on yeast mixture and cover with tea towels.
5. Let stand on warm stove about 30 minutes.
6. Whisk until creamy.

LIQUID MIXTURE
1. In a pot melt 1/2 cup margarine, stir until melted.
2. Let cool until lukewarm.
3. In a separate bowl add eggs, vanilla, and 1/2 the amount of warm water. Stir.
4. Add sugar, salt and and the other 1/2 of warm water to melted butter. Stir.
5. Add egg mixture to the butter mixture. Stir until no longer granulated.
6. Whisk yeast mixture until smooth. Add to liquid pot, whisking until all yeast mixture is combined.

DIRECTIONS
1. Warm large bowl under hot water.
2. Add flour to bowl.
3. Make a well with the flour by twirling flour in bowl.
4. Pour liquid mixture in the middle of flour bowl well and combine in bowl.
5. When the dough has pulled together, turn it out onto a lightly floured surface and knead until smooth and elastic, about 8 minutes.
6. Cover and let rise until doubled in volume (approximately 5 hours).

Preheat oven to 350 degrees F. Bake in preheated oven for 25 to 30 minutes for cinnamon buns and for 20 minutes and broil for 2 minutes for dinner buns, until golden brown.
