My mom earned green stamps in the 70's every time she went to the gas station. If you earned enough stamps, you could turn them in for household items. One of the first things she acquired with her stamps, was a wok. This is one of the recipes she made in her beloved wok.

Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 lb. chicken breast, cut into 1/2 inch cubes
  • 1 tsp. ground ginger
  • 2 tsp. sugar
  • 1 Tbsp. cornstarch
  • 3 Tbsp. water
  • 3 Tbsp. soy sauce
  • 1/3 c. sherry
  • 2 (6 oz.) packages Chinese pea pods, thawed
  • 1/4 c. vegetable oil
  • 1 c. whole almonds

Step 1

In a bowl, mix together ginger, sugar, cornstarch, water, soy sauce and sherry. In wok, heat oil over medium heat. Add almonds, stir and cook 3 minutes. Add chicken and cook until white. Pour in sauce mixture and cook until sauce thickens. Add pea pods, stir fry until hot and glazed.

Mom says: Double the sauce.
