Beans and Rice

Ingredients

  • 2 onions, chopped
  • 2 garlic cloves minced
  • 2 T butter
  • 1 green pepper chopped
  • 16 oz tomato sauce
  • 1 can chopped tomatoes
  • 1 can kidney beans-drained
  • 1 can cannellini beans- drained
  • 1 t salt
  • 1/2 t red pepper flakes
  • 1 heaping T chili powder
  • 1 can water
  • sausage sliced up

Preparation

Step 1

1. saute onions, green peppers, and garlic in butter and add tomato sauce, sausage, water, tomatoes and simmer for 30 minutes.

2. add beans to mixture along with spices and cook slowly over low heat for two hours.

3. serve over brown rice and top with cheese and sour cream.
