Ingredients
- 1 cup flour
- 2 tablespoons sugar
- 1 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 2/3 cup corn meal
- 2 tablespoons shortening
- 1 egg, slightly beaten
- 3/4 cup milk
- Oil for frying
- 8 hot dogs
- 8 wooden sticks

Preparation
Step 1
In medium bowl, sift together flour, sugar, baking powder and salt. stir in corn meal and cut in shortening. In separate bowl, combine egg and milk Add to flour mixture and stir. Heat oil to 350 to 375 degrees. Wipe hot dogs with a paper towel. (this makes the batter stick better) Insert a wooden stick into the end of each hot dog. Roll hot dog in batter until coated. (if batter is too thick, add a little milk) Fry 4 to 5 minutes, or until nicely browned
