Ingredients
- 450 g sirloin beef cubes
- 4 slices bacon, diced
- 1 onion, diced
- 1 clove garlic, minced
- 1 cup sodium-reduced beef broth
- 1 14 oz can diced tomatoes
- 1 can tomato paste
- 1/2 cup dry red wine
- 1 tsp sugar
- 1/2 tsp dried Italian herb seasoning
- 1/4 cup chopped fresh basil
- 1 bay leaf
- 1/4 tsp each salt and pepper
Preparation
Step 1
In slow cooker, combine beef, bacon, onion, garlic, broth, diced tomatoes, tomato paste, wine, sugar, Italian seasoning, basil, bay leaf, salt and pepper.
Cover and cook on low until beef is tender, 7 to 8 hours. Using potato masher, break up beef until coarsely shredded.
Serve over fusilli pasta.
