Baked Chocolate Glazed Donuts

I remember the old days when grandma would make old fashioned donuts in oil in her skillet. Well, I still love the freshness and smells of donuts in the kitchen, but this recipe makes it easier and less mess to create those same delicious breakfast treats. This recipe is wonderful and produces some fresh and tasty donuts to get your day going! Give these a try!

Ingredients

  • For the Donuts:
  • Ingredients
  • 1 cup all purpose flour
  • 1/4 heaping cup granulated sugar
  • 1/4 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 cup and an extra splash milk
  • 1 egg
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 tablespoon butter, melted
  • For the Glaze:
  • 2 tablespoons coffee, brewed
  • 2 tablespoons milk
  • 3 tablespoons cocoa powder
  • 1-2/3 cup powdered sugar
  • (add 1/3 more powdered sugar for a thick frosting)

1Preheat oven to 325 degrees F
2Spray a donut baking pan with non-stick cooking spray, dust lightly with flour.



For the Donuts:
1In a medium bowl, mix all the dry ingredients.
2Add milk, egg, vanilla and butter. Whisk until smooth.
3Fill each donut cavity ½ full with the batter.
4Bake 12 – 14 minutes until a toothpick comes out clean.



For the Glaze:
1Whisk together all ingredients until smooth. Add an additional ⅓ cup of powdered sugar for a thicker glaze.
2Dip the top of each donut in the glaze, top with chocolate sprinkles.
