Old-Fashioned Onion Soup

Ingredients

  • 3 lb large onions, peeled and thinly sliced
  • 1/2 c butter, melted
  • 6 to 8 slices French bread, cubed
  • 4 to 5 c chicken broth

Preparation

Step 1

Place sliced onions in crockpot; pour in butter and mix to coat onions thoroughly. Stir in cubed bread. Add chicken broth to cover; stir well. Cover and cook on low for 10 to 18 hours or on on high for 4 to 5 hours, stirring occasionally. Stir well during last hour.
