Macaroni and Cheese Pie

  • 9 " uncooked pie shell
  • 1 c. uncooked macaroni
  • 8 oz. sharp cheddar, grated
  • 1/4 c. butter
  • 1/4 c. flour
  • 2 c. milk
  • 1 t. salt
  • 1/8 t. white pepper
  • 1 T. butter



Step 1

Prepare a 9" pie shell and set aside. Cook macaroni according to pkg. directions. Drain while macaroni cooks, preheat oven to 425. Set aside 1/2 c. cheese for topping.

Make the sauce by melting butter in a small saucepan. Stir in flour and lit bubble 2 minutes. Blend in milk, stirring constantly until thickened. Add salt and pepper.

Now alternate layers of macaroni and cheese in the pie shell, ending with cheese. Pour the sauce over the pie and top with the remaining 1/2 c. cheese. Dot with butter. Bake about 30 minutes or until crust is nicely browned and cheese is brown and bubbly.
