Ingredients

  • 1 /13 cup flour
  • 3/4 cup icing sugar
  • 3 egg whites, lightly beaten
  • 2 egg yolks, lightly beaten
  • 1 tsp. grated orange zest
  • 1 tbsp. orange liqueur
  • 1 large orange

Preparation

Step 1

Combine flour and sugar. Add egg white, egg yolks, orange zest and liqueur. Mix well. Let batter sit for 20 minutes.

Grease a baking sheet and mark three 5-inch circles on the surface (using a saucer as a guide), place them well apart.
Using a tablespoon, drop 1 spoonful of batter in the center of each circle, spreading batter to cover area evenly and neatly.
Bake cookies at 350F for 5 to 6 minutes or until edges are browning but center is still soft. Working quickly, remove cookies with a spatula and form cupped shapes, using the whole orange as a mold. Set molded cookies on a rack to cool.

If cookies cool too quickly before molding, soften in warm oven.

Regrease cookie sheet and continue as above until all batter is used up.
