Hamburg Casserole

Ingredients

  • 1 lb lean ground casserole
  • 7-1/2 oz tomato sauce
  • 1 garlic clove,minced
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 2 tsp sugar
  • 14-oz can tomatoes
  • 3 cups broad egg noodles,cooked and drained
  • 4 oz light cream cheese, cubes
  • 1 cup sour cream (fat free is fine)
  • 6 green onions
  • 1 -1/2 cups grated cheddar cheese

Preparation

Step 1

Brown meat and drain. Add tomato sauce, garlic,salt,pepper,sugar and tomatoes. Cover and simmer over low heat for 45 minutes. Preheat oven to 350 degrees . Combine hot noodles with cubed cream cheese and green onions. In a greased 3 quart baking dish, layer meat sauce, noodle mixture and cheddar cheese alternatively. Bake uncovered for 30 minutes.
