Sweet and Sour Red Cabbage

Ingredients

  • 1

    head red cabbage, shredded

  • 1

    apple grated, not peeled

  • ½

    cup cider vinegar

  • ½

    cup water

  • ½

    cup sugar

  • 1

    tbsp fresh lemon juice

  • 4

    tbsp butter

  • ¼

    tsp pepper

Directions

Add cabbage, apple, vinegar, water, sugar and pepper to a large pot. Cover and bring to a boil over medium heat. Cook for approximately 30 minutes - mine took a little longer to soften. Brown butter cooking over medium hear until foamy and golden. Remove from hear and stir into cabbage. Mix in lemon juice.
