Ingredients

  • 2 tablespoons butter or margarine
  • 2 tablespoons flour
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon sugar- (Jodi took out the sugar and liked it better that way)
  • 1/2 teaspoon grated onion
  • 1 cup sour cream
  • 4 cups drained cooked French cut green beans
  • 1/2 pound processed grated Swiss cheese (Jodi says add more and I like hers the best of any I have ever had)
  • 2 cups cornflakes (Jodi says add more and like I said hers are the best)
  • 2 tablespoons melted butter or margarine

Method:
Melt the butter on low heat and stir in the flour slowly, salt and pepper, sugar and onion. Add the sour cream gradually, stirring constantly. Cook until thickened stirring occasionally. Fold in the green beans; heat thoroughly. Pour into a greased 1 1/2 quart casserole. Great the cheese in a food processor and sprinkle over the green beans mixture. Crush the cornflakes into fine crumbs; mix with the melted butter and sprinkle over the cheese. Bake in a moderately hot oven 400° for 20 minutes. Serves six, in my opinion this serves more than six
