Ingredients
- 1 lb lean ground beef
- 1 small onion, chopped
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 tbsp chili powder
- 1 tsp dried oregano
- 1/4 tsp each salt and pepper
- 1 1/2 lb whole wheat pizza dough
- 1 cup salsa or pizza sauce
- 1 cup shredded extra-old Cheddar cheese
- 1/4 cup light sour cream
- 2 cups shredded lettuce
- 1 tomato, chopped
- 1/2 avocado, pitted, peeled and diced
- 1/4 cup sliced black olives (optional)
Preparation
Step 1
1. In a large nonstick skillet, cook beef over medium-high heat until no longer pink, about 5 minutes. Drain off fat.
2. Add onion, garlic, chili powder, oregano, salt and pepper; cook over medium heat, stirring occasionally, until onion is softened, about 3 minutes.
3. On lightly floured surface, divide dough into quarters; shape into discs. Roll out each into 8-inch (20 cm) oval; place on large greased baking sheet.
4. Spread each with salsa; sprinkle with meat mixure then cheese. Bake in bottom third of 425 F (220 C) degrees oven until cheese in bubbly and crust is golden, 20 to 25 minutes.
5. Top each pizza with sour cream, lettuce, tomato, avocado and olives (if using).
