Ingredients

  • Burgers:

  • 1

    C dried bread crumbs

  • 1/2

    C finely chopped onion

  • 1/2

    C Italian salad dressing

  • 2

    eggs, lightly beaten

  • 2

    lbs ground beef

  • 6

    kaiser rolls, split

  • Leaf lettuce, Colby cheese slices, tomato slices, ketchup,mustard, mayo and fried onion rings, optional.

  • Fried onion rings:

  • 1/2

    C all purpose flour

  • 1/2

    C water

  • 1

    egg, lightly beaten

  • 1

    tsp seasoned salt

  • 1/2

    tsp baking powder

  • 1

    large onion, very thinly sliced

  • Oil for deep fat frying

Directions

In a large bowl, combine the bread crumbs, onion, salad dressing and eggs. Crumble beef over mixture and mix well. Shape into 6 patties. Grill burgers, covered over medium heat for 5-7 minutes on each side or until a meat thermometer reads 160* and juices run clear. For onion rings, whisk the first five ingredients in a shallow bowl.separate onion slices into rings. Dip rings into batter. In a deep fryer, heat 1 inch of oil to 375*. fry onion rings in batches for 1-1.5 minutes on each side or until golden brown. Drain on paper towels. Serve burgers on rolls with toppings.
