Ingredients

  • Frosting:
  • 2 1/2 C Flour
  • 1 1/2 C Sugar
  • 1 Tsp Baking Soda
  • 1 Tsp Fine Salt
  • 1 Tsp Cocoa Powder
  • 1 1/2 C Vegetable Oil
  • 1 C Buttermilk (ROOM TEMP)
  • 2 Tbl Red Food Coloring
  • 1 Tsp White Distilled Vinegar
  • 1 Tsp Vanilla
  • 2 Eggs
  • 1 Lb Cream Cheese *Soft
  • 4 C Sifted Powdered Sugar
  • 2 Sticks Unsalted Butter
  • 1 Tsp Vanilla

Preparation

Step 1

Preheat Oven to 350.

Butter and Flour two 9" cake pans.

Sift together flour, sugar, baking soda, salt and cocoa powder. In a seperate bowl, whisk together buttermilk, eggs, food coloring, vinegar and vanilla. Gradually add dry ingredients to wet mixutre with beater until well combined.

Divide cake batter evenly into both prepared pans. Bake 30 mins, or until toothpick comes out clean.

Cool completly before frosting.
