This was my gramas recipe, she made it when we were kids almost every time we came over. Not really a bread, more of a bar.

Ingredients

  • 2

    eggs

  • 1

    cup light brown sugar

  • 1

    cup chopped dates

  • 1

    cup chopped nuts (optional)

  • 5

    Tbl flour

  • 1/2

    teas vanilla

  • 1/2

    teas baking powder

  • powdered sugar

Directions

Mix eggs very well, add brown sugar a little at a time and beat until light in color. Add dates, vanilla and nuts. Mix flour and baking powder seperately, then add to date mix. Stir to mix well. Grease an 8x8 baking pan, fill and bake at 325 for 30 min. Cool and cut into squares and top with sifted powdered sugar.
