Double Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough Cake

Ingredients

  • COOKIE DOUGH (EGG FREE!):
  • 1 box chocolate cake mix
  • Ingredients required to make cake
  • 3/4 cup butter
  • 3/4 cup light brown sugar, packed
  • 3/4 cup granulated white sugar
  • 3 Tablespoons milk
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 1/2 cups mini chocolate chips

Preparation

Step 1

Make cake according to package directions.
Divide your cake batter into two round, 10 inch pans and bake according to the package directions.

Prepare the cookie dough: In a medium bowl, use an electric mixer to combine butter, brown sugar and white sugar. Mix in milk and vanilla. Mix in flour just until combined. Stir in chocolate chips.

Let cakes cool completely before removing from pan. Take one of your cooled cakes and cookie dough frosting, approximately 1/2 an inch from the edge, press gently all the way around the cake to create a raised border. This will result in a well for your cookie dough. After filling your cake groove with cookie dough, plop your second cooled cake directly on top.

Frost the top of the second cake with your remaining cookie dough. Refrigerate until the dough is quite firm. It's okay to speed up the process and place it in the freezer too.
