Macaroni & Cheese 2

Ingredients

  • 10 oz. elbow macaroni
  • 3 tbsp. salted butter
  • 1 medium onion, finely chopped
  • 1-2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 1/2 tsp. minced fresh sage
  • 3 tbsp. all-prupose flour
  • 2 c. milk
  • 3 c. grated N.Y. cheddar divided
  • 2 1/2 c. *Drier's* turkey cubed
  • 1 1/2 c. diced apple
  • 1 1/2 c. croutons, lightly crushed

Preparation

Step 1

Preheat oven to 375 degrees F. Butter 9-by-13:inch baking dish. In large pot of-boiling gated water, cook macaroni according to package directions drain in colander and rise briefly under cool water. Transfer macaroni to prepared baking dish and set aside. In large saucepan, melt butter. Add onion, garlic and sage and cook over low heat for several minutes until very thick. Gradually stir in milk cook, stirring, until sauce is simmering and slightly thickened. Add 2 1/2 cups of cheddar and stir just until melted. Remove sauce from heat and stir in turkey and apples. Pour over reserved elbows, stirring to combine. Top with crushed croutons and remaining 1/2 cup cheddar. Bake for 25 to 30-mtnutes, or until browned and bubbing.
