Ingredients
- 2 cups sugar
- 1 cup light molasses
- 1/4 cup water
- 2 teaspoons vinegar
- 2 tablespoons margarine
- 1/2 teaspoon soda
Preparation
Step 1
Butter sides of heavy 2-quart saucepan. Combine sugar, molasses and water. Heat slowly - stir till sugar is dissolved. Bring to a boil. Add vinegar and cook to light crack stage (290 candy thermometer). Remove from heat, add butter and sift in soda, stir to mix. Turn out on buttered platter. Don't scrape. Turn edges to center. Pull while warm. If candy sticks to hand use cornstarch to coat hands.
