Thanksgiving Yams

  • 4 sweet potatoes or yams, peeled and chunked
  • 2 Granny Smith apples, peeled and sliced
  • 1 cup maple syrup
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1/4 cup dried cranberries, optional
  • 1/4 cup chopped walnuts, optional
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 2 tablespoons butter



Step 1

Boil sweet potatoes in salted water until just tender, drain. Put sweet potatoes and apples in a casserole dish. Sprinkle with cinnamon, drizzle with syrup. Add dried cranberries and chopped walnuts, if desired. Toss to coat. Dot with butter. Bake in a 350 degree oven for 30 minutes or until apples are tender.
