Ingredients
- 1/4 cup Bisquick baking mix
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1/8 teaspoon pepper
- 1/8 teaspoon paprika
- 1 pound beef stew meat,cubed
- 2 tablespoons shortening
- 1 small onion,chopped
- 1 small clove garlic,finely chopped
- 1 medium tomato,chopped
- 2 large carrots,sliced
- 2 cups water
- 1/2 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
- 1 tesapoon salt
- 1/8 teaspoon pepper
- CORN DUMPLINGS
- 3/4 cup whole kernel corn,drained
- 1 tablespoon chopped onion
Preparation
Step 1
Mix baking mix,1/4 teaspoon salt,1/8 teaspoon pepper
and the paprika;coat meat.Brown meat in shortening in large skillet.Add onion and the garlic;cook and stir
until onion is tender.Add tomato,carrots and water.
Cover;cook over low heat 1 1/2 to 2 hours or until meat is tender,adding more water if necessary.Stir in Worcerstershire sauce,1 teaspoon salt and 1/8 teaspoon pepper.
FOR CORN DUMLINGS:Prepare dumplings as directed on Bisquick box except add corn and 1 tablespoon chopped onion.
