Chocolate Funeral Cake

This recipe I call funeral cake because it always shows up at funerals.
I like this cake so well because of the cinnamon in it. It gives it a really unique and great taste.

Ingredients

  • 1 stick margarine, softened
  • 1/2 c. shortening
  • 2 c. sugar
  • 2 c. flour
  • 4 T. cocoa
  • 1 c. water
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 t. baking soda
  • 1 t. vanilla extract
  • 1 t. cinnamon
  • 1/2 c. buttermilk

Preparation

Step 1

Sift flour and sugar together into a large bowl and set aside.

Put into a saucepan; margarine, cocoa and water. Bring to a rapid boil and pour over flour mixture, stirring until completely mixed.

Add eggs, soda, vanilla, cinnamon and buttermilk.

Bake in a 16 X 11" sheet cake pan for 20-30 minutes @ 400 degrees.
