Preparation

Step 1

Peel and quarter potatoes, boil in salted water until tender (about 20 mins)

While the potatoes are cooking, mel 4 tablespoons of butter in a larger frying pan.

Saute onions in butter until tender over medium heat (about 10 minutes). If you are adding vegetables, add them according to cooking time. Put any carrots in with the onions.

Add ground beef & cook until no longer pink. Add salt and pepper & other seasonings. Add worcestershire, half a cup of beef broth & cook uncovered for 10 mins, adding more broth as necessary to keep moist.

Mash potatoes in bowl with remainder of butter 7 season to taste.

Place beef mixture in baking dish. Sprinkle cheese over mixture evenly. Distribute mashed potatoes evenly on top. Rough up with a fork so that there are peaks that will brown.

Cook at 400 degrees until bubbling and brown. About 30 mins.
