Country Sauerkraut

This sauerkraut is SWEET and not sour….like Mama's was.

Ingredients

  • 1 gal. sauerkraut
  • 1 lb. butter
  • 2 1/2 c. sugar (white or brown)

Preparation

Step 1

Strain sauerkraut removing as much liquid as possible. (Use a cup to press out liquid while in the strainer.) Add 1 pound of butter, melted in the microwave. Stir in 2 ½ cups of sugar. Bake in a 350º oven for at least an hour stirring twice.
