    Can almond paste

  • 1

    Extra large egg white

  • ½

    cup sugar

  • 10

    maraschino cherries, optional


Preheat oven to 325. Line cookie sheet with parchment paper. Break almond paste into small pieces and place in food processor or mixer. Add sugar and mix well. Add egg white and mix until moist and sticky, about 2 minutes. Spoon almond mixture into piping bag and pipe into 1 1/2 inch stars, or drop by rounded TBL on lined sheet, about 1 inch apart. Top with maraschino cherry if desired. Bake 20 minutes on middle shelf. Move to upper shelf for approximately 8 more minutes until lightly browned. Move onto baking rack to cool. When cool, peel off parchment paper and store in airtight container.
